Offene Ohren e.V. - Friends of Improvised Music is an nonprofit association that has been successfully organising concerts of improvised music since 2004. It is our aim to promote improvised music.
We want to make international improvised music a regular part of the cultural scene in Munich and not only offer its representatives an attractive platform but also enhance the cultural life in our city.
With our program we hope to attract people with open ears. With these concerts, every cultural enthusiast living in and around Munich should get a chance to see and hear how thrilling excellent international improvised music is and that it is indeed worthwhile extending one's listening habits and risking to experience the birth of something new.
For anybody interested in this kind of music we provide our web site as a source of information about the latest concerts and as an inspiration to get involved more deeply with contemporary improvised music.
Another important aim for us is contributing to the interlinking of already existing initiatives focussed on similar activities. We are looking forward to seeing new cooperations arise out of a growing network.
After our ninth year, we can say that we really made headway in turning Munich into an important address for international improvisers.
This is mainly due to our long-standing cooperation with Kulturreferat der Landeshauptstadt München, Klanggalerie t-u-b-e and Jazzclub Unterfahrt. With the help of these partners, we initiated the concert series ad hoc music in 2005, which has since become an integral part of Munich's cultural autumn season.
Our single concerts have also been well received. Some of them have even been issued on official albums.
